Be sure to keep an eye out as you make your way around Bushmills for a very special, community Christmas Trail to celebrate the festive season.
As part of the community outreach work of The Courthouse Shared Space Creative Hub, we recently enlisted the help of 12 community organisations to design and create 12, uniquely bespoke, 20-inch wreaths, that best represent their organisations. Local artist, Sarah Barfoot, helped the groups design and make their wreaths.
As well as displaying in the windows of community organisations, local businesses also got involved, offering their window as a home to some. This included: Tartine at Distillers Arms, Bushmills Post Office, The Bilberry Mill Cafe, The Co Op, Market Square and Bushmills Medical Centre.
A couple of walking tours of the village took place on Thursday 15 December, including insights and historical references on both the village and Christmas traditions from Helen Perry and Nina McNeary, with teas, coffees and mince pies afterwards and some chat and laughter.
The groups who took part are:
- Portballintrae Residents Association
- The Ivy Leaf Club
- Ballytober Primary School
- Dalriada Rural Surestart
- Dunseverick Primary School
- Portballintrae Royal Blues LOL 1142
- Dunluce School
- Dunluce Parish Mothers Union
- Bushmills Presbyterian Church
- The Courthouse Youth Forum
- The Designerie
- The Courthouse Shared Space Creative Hub
