An ear for opportunity: An In-Tune Entrepreneur to Community Needs
In 2022, Rabab Flack transformed a lifelong passion for person-centred care into Causeway Clear Ears, an award-winning ear health service for the Causeway Coast and Glens. Her nurse-led clinics in Coleraine, home visits, and pharmacy pop-ups provide safe, accessible treatment for adults and children experiencing conditions such as glue ear, ear infections, hearing loss and wax build-up.
Following the loss of her mother in 2022, Rabab took time to pause and reflect on her work-life balance, personal passions and the wider needs of her community. With over 20 years in nursing, including 12 in senior community nursing, she recognised a gap in ear health provision. “I wanted to create something that was professional, safe and accessible, while staying true to my passion for care.”
Taking the bold step into business was not easy, but Rabab found vital support at Enterprise Causeway. “The teams support was a crucial foundation at the beginning of my journey. Through the Go For It programme, my business advisor supported me to write my business plan. Later, the Enterprise Causeway community celebrated my wins, gave me platforms to share my story and provided spaces that made me feel part of a tribe. For a sole practitioner, that sense of community was invaluable.”
Her courage and drive have brought remarkable growth. In April 2025, Rabab launched a Training Academy as the only Licensed and Certified National Trainer in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland for The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust. Launched at Enterprise Causeway’s headquarters, the academy equips nurses, audiologists and medics with vital skills in ear care, raising standards across the profession.
Now with four associate nurses and expanded clinics, Rabab is building a team ready to offer corporate packages and broaden her impact. Her journey shows what is possible when personal passion, professional expertise, and the right support come together. “The future is about growth, collaboration and continuing to inspire others - especially women, to believe in themselves and step into business.”
